Papaver nudicaule or Iceland poppies have textured, cup-shaped flowers in shades of white, orange, pink and crimson.  Stems are tall and without foliage, the apple green, fern-like leaves form a soft clump at the base of the plant.

Planting & Cultivation Tips

Plant 20 to 30cm apart in soil that has been prepared by being dug thoroughly and enriched with well-rotted manure or compost.

Poppies need a well drained position with sun.

Feed every two weeks when buds form.

Remove old flowerheads and protect from snails.

Easy to grow, colourful bedding plants.  The dwarf variety grown at Lots-a-Colour make an excellent pot plant as well.
